The goal of this Ideation Hackathon is:
“To bring people together to brainstorm and create practical ideas using digital technology for a sustainable future in Curaçao.”
Together with the innovation community, we aim to:
- Address societal, economic, and environmental challenges
- Spark creativity and innovation in kids
- Shaping a thriving innovation village

Are you an innovator, entrepreneur, or simply someone with a passion for creating a better future? Then the Ideation Hackathon 2024 is for you! Join us as we brainstorm and develop practical ideas for a better future. This hybrid event is designed to stimulate creative thinking, collaboration, and innovation among all members of our community, with the goal of shaping a thriving innovation village.
Theme and Sub-themes
Main Theme
Our central theme is “Creating a Sustainable Digital Future for Everyone.” We aim to leverage digital innovation to empower our community and build a sustainable future for Curaçao.
Sub-Themes
Teams of 3 to 5 participants work on one of the following sub-themes:
- Digital Society: Focus on bridging the digital divide and create a more inclusive online world. Brainstorm ideas for a community platform that tackles social or business issues, improves access to government services, or empowers local businesses.
- Digital Green Economy: Focus on how to achieve sustainable economic growth through innovation. Design digital solutions to support local businesses, encourage sustainable practices, or connect entrepreneurs with resources.
- Innovation Community: Focus on involving the community in the realization of a phsyical innovation hub for collaboration and creativity. Propose specific initiatives, events, and programs that can attract diverse participants, including underrepresented groups in the tech and innovation sectors.

The Ideation Hackathon 2024 is a hybrid event consisting of three rounds:
Thursday, July 11, 3:00 pm @ CITI : Kick-Off Instructions
- Learn about the rules, timelines, and sub-themes. Form your team and get ready to innovate! Teams can join this event online or in person.
- Start round 1: problem statement
Thursday July 18, 3:00 pm @ CITI: Share Results round 1 + Start round 2
- Interactive session for groups
- Share results round 1: Problem Statement
- Start round 2: solution ideation
Thursday July 25, 3:00 pm @ CITI: Share Results round 2 + Start Demo Prep
- Interactive session for groups
- Share results round 2: solution ideation
- Start Prep innovathon canvas & demo/presentation
Thursday August 01 @ CITI: Jury Presentation & Demo
- Groups present solutions to the jury, share feedback with fellow participants, and find out who the winning team is!
